🚌 Manufacturing & Installation Process of Bus Shelters
1. Manufacturing Process
a) Design & Engineering
- Shelters are designed according to Land Transport Authority (LTA) specifications.
- Structural load (wind, live load, impact) checked per Eurocode / SS EN standards.
- Materials, finishes, and sizes finalized before fabrication.
b) Material Preparation
- Frame: Mild steel / hot-dip galvanized steel / aluminium sections.
- Roof: Aluminium composite panels (ACP) / powder-coated aluminium / polycarbonate.
- Wall Panels: Tempered laminated glass / perforated aluminium sheets.
- Benches: Stainless steel / aluminium extrusion.
c) Fabrication
- Cutting, welding, bending of steel/aluminium profiles.
- Surface finishing:
- Steel → hot-dip galvanizing + powder coating.
- Aluminium → anodizing / powder coating.
- Pre-drilled fixing holes for modular assembly
- Pre-assembly test in workshop to check fit-up before delivery.
2. Installation Process
a) Site Preparation
- Survey & setting out → confirm location, levels, and utilities.
- Foundation work:
- Permanent shelters → reinforced concrete footing with cast-in anchor bolts.
- Temporary shelters → precast concrete blocks or steel base plates fixed by removable anchors.
b) Erection Sequence
- Column Installation
- Position steel/aluminium columns over anchor bolts.
- Align with spirit level/laser, tighten nuts with washers.
- Roof Frame Fixing
- Bolt/weld cross beams and rafters onto columns.
- Install lateral bracing for stability.
- Roof Cladding
- Fix aluminium/polycarbonate/fabric roofing sheets.
- Seal joints with weatherproof silicone to prevent leaks.
- Wall/Back Panels (for permanent shelters)
- Install tempered glass / aluminium perforated panels.
- Fix signage and route information board.
- Benches & Accessories
- Bolt benches, leaning rails, and rubbish bins.
- Install bollards in front for safety (to prevent vehicle impact).
- Electrical Works
- Connect LED lighting, solar panels (if included).
- Test wiring and protective earth.
- Column Installation
